With the 'Star Spangled Banner' being the final track of the 'Astro Man' set, I felt it was the perfect share for Independence Day. You are not experienced until you hear the contents of this box set, which offers an excellent compilation of unreleased studio & live rarities from Jimi Hendrix. Three of discs offer unreleased studio tracks, various out-takes and alternative versions from 1966 through 1970. The other half of the box set showcases two digitally remastered live performances.
The alternative versions of 'Red House', 'Purple Haze' and 'Ez Rider' offer an interesting listen, as do the instrumental jams and the 'midnight lightning' jam session. However, the true beauty of this box set lies in the tremendous live material, as Jimi roars through the setlists with shredding guitar riffs, bold, powerful solos and his trademark touches. One of the two performances is from January 29, 1968 in Stockholm and is only available through the 'Astro Man' box set.
