Reviews

The Jimi Hendrix Experience's second release of 1967 was another major achievement for the group. Once again, recording took place at Olympic Studio's in London, and brought Hendrix's rapidly evolving songwriting gift to the forefront. The Experience managed to keep a feverish pace in the studio during the recording of Axis: Bold As Love and recorded the album over a series of recording dates between May 4 and October 30, 1967.
Once again British audiences were privy to an earlier release than in the United States. British stores unveiled The Experience's second smash album on December 1, 1967, undoubtedly capitalizing on strong Christmas sales. The album made hit number 5 on the UK charts and spent 16 weeks on the charts. American audiences got their first glimpse of the new release in early January 1968 and helped push the album to number 3 in Billboard's Top 200 album chart the month following its release.
